SONY

If you shop at any Costco Warehouse, you'll see a plethora of TVs, gaming consoles and other electronic products bearing the Sony logo. Sony's original vision wasn't to become one of the worlds largest manufacturer of electronic products, rather it wanted to use people, innovation and technology to create a better society.

This vision took root at the end of World War II, when Sony's founder Mr Masaru Ibuka started the company with a small team of dedicated engineers. Mr Ibuka recalls how "during the war, we were subjected to some of the poorest conditions. But I experienced how passion together with capabilities can be driven by a profound and fascinating mission... thus I began to conceive of ways for these motivated individuals to embrace a firm cooperative spirit and to unleash their technological capacities".

Growing up, you may have experienced using Sony's products such as the TR-63 transistor radio during the Baby Boom era of the 60s, the Sony Walkman during the 70s or the ever-popular PlayStation console of the 90s. The company has even recently ventured into the entertainment industry, producing such blockbuster movies as Spider-Man, Skyfall, Jumanji and Men in Black.

And now, 70 years on, Costco is proud to partner with Sony, to distribute leading-edge products that will lead to a better society.
