Singer/Songwriter Carole King started her music career in the second of those two categories, writing songs for a living with husband Gerry Goffin. They were good and they were successful, penning hits for The Monkees, Aretha Franklin, and The Shirelles.
After parting from Goffin, Carole moved to the West Coast of the USA and began a solo career. This exploded into world-wide success with her second LP, the timeless Tapestry. Although there are many terrific songs on subsequent albums, it is her sophomore release that guarantees her immortality!
